Hello reader! Welcome to my 2017 Journalist of the Year Portfolio. This is an unedited archive of the website that I submitted in the 2017 Journalist of the Year contest hosted by the Journalism Education Association, where I finished as the NE state winner. If you are working on a portfolio for the contest, I hope this site is helpful for you. If you are curious about my journalistic work in high school, I hope you enjoy looking around.
Priya KukrejaCo-Editor-in-Chief, In-Depth Page Editor, The Hoofbeat
Millard North High School, Omaha, NE Class of 2017 My name is Priya Kukreja and I am the Co-Editor-in-Chief and In-Depth Page Editor of The Hoofbeat at Millard North High School in Omaha, Nebraska. I have been a reporter for four years and served as the In-Depth Page Editor for three years. When I first joined the newspaper staff, I learned an important lesson. Don't just see; observe. As a young writer with an insatiable desire to know, I fell in love with storytelling. I dedicated countless hours to exploring other aspects of journalism—commentary, design, photography, editing, and filming—all of which have become vital to bring stories together. My intense desire to explore human stories drives my journalistic aspirations. This is the foundation of my growth. It lies in the ability to interact with individuals, learn from them, and create a dialogue with transformative implications. |
